Translated from Hebrew and Greek into Latin by St. Jerome

In the fourth century, Pope Damasus I ordered Jerome to create a translation from Hebrew and Greek into Latin suitable for prayer and liturgical use. The translation duly completed according to the canon of the Roman Catholic Church, is called Latin Vulgate.

1. A saeculo confregisti iugum tuum, rupisti vincula tua et dixisti: "Non serviam" In omni enim colle sublimi et sub omni ligno frondoso tu prosternebaris meretrix - Long ago you broke off your yoke and tore off your bonds; you said, 'I will not serve you!' Indeed, on every high hill and under every spreading tree you lay down as a prostitute (Vulgate - Jeremiah 2, 20)
2. Abyssus abyssum vocat in voce - Deep calleth on deep (Vulgate - Psalm 42:7)
3. Ad ephesios - To the Ephesians (One of the books in the Vulgate - It also refers to words to the wind, or to speak without being listen to)
